As in many other industries, the human factor in logistics is a "problem". On the one hand, staff tends to be in short supply in times of a shortage of skilled workers, and on the other hand, employees are a not insignificant cost factor in business calculations. The Barcelona-based start-up Grasshopper Air Mobility is now presenting a technological approach for seamless end-to-end deliveries in which a so-called flight-driving drone plays a key role - literally.

Maximum automation. This is the succinct formula that could be used to describe what Grasshopper Air Mobility has come up with to optimize the reliability, efficiency and sustainability of goods deliveries. The overall concept presented at the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) envisages that, ultimately, no direct human interaction will be required when transporting pallets between two storage locations or shipping centers. The team led by co-founder and CEO Jakob Saalfrank has set itself the goal of using a holistic approach to meet a specific need in modern logistics processes - and is therefore thinking well beyond the aircraft itself.
