The Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) opens tomorrow the doors of its fifth edition, already consolidated as a global reference in the promotion of the new economy. On the eve of BNEW, several experts brought together by La Vanguardia and the Consorci de la Zona Franca debate on the trends in the transport sector (Miquel Gomila)

BNEW reaches its fifth edition this week, already consolidated as a global benchmark in the promotion of the new economy. The event, promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), maintains its hybrid, in-person and digital format, and will put the innovations and latest trends in seven key sectors for the new economy at the centre of the debate: digital industry, mobility, sustainability, talent, health, experience and, as a novelty of this year's event, aviation, a strategic sector for Spain, since it represents 1.2% of GDP and employs more than 155,000 people.


As a prelude to Barcelona New Economy Week, Diálogos La Vanguardia brought together a group of experts to debate the future of mobility.


Drones are also part of the revolution taking place in the air, which is why governments around the world are developing regulations to regulate the traffic of these devices, and those that may be yet to come, and of airplanes. Saalfrank, co-founder and CEO of Grasshopper Air Mobility, a one-year-old startup, first thought of a flying car for people transport, but, given the difficulties, he turned to logistics and focused on Industry 4.0. “We are developing a robotic drone that, in the electrified version, will be able to carry up to 350 kilos and cover 200 kilometers,” he said. With a hybrid model, his drone will be able to carry more cargo or fly up to 600 kilometers.
